MiY Collection - Simple Shrug
You're going to make loads of these! This small bolero style shrug is a quick project and a really versatile style - in a knit with a lurex sparkly thread it's a great cover-up for an evening out, with a silk satin body it would be a lovely addition to a wedding outfit or in a casual single jersey stripe or sweatshirt fabric you can layer it with t-shirts and jeans. It has double layer neckband and cuffs which can be made in contrast fabric.
The pattern is multi-sized and printed on 80gsm white paper (not flimsy tracing paper). This is NOT a downloadable pdf pattern that you have to print and stick together yourself.
3 sizes are included in the pattern (S, M & L), see sizing for detailed measurements.The sizing and fit of the shrug are fairly generous - it's quite a loose fitting garment.
This pattern is designed for stretch knit fabrics and works in a wide range of knits, however, it can work with a lightweight woven (such as satin, chiffon) for the body only, if you size up. You can mix and match your fabrics, using a contrast for the neckband and cuffs. Help with choosing fabrics can be found on the blog here and here.
This design is really easy and quick and is a good one for beginners that have just started to sew!
The pattern comes with a thorough instruction booklet which covers:
* fabric requirements
* cutting layouts
* an explanation of fabric layouts and cutting
* how to sew knit fabrics on a domestic sewing machine
* instructions & diagrams for how to make the shrug
* an MIY Collection label to sew into your finished garment!
